The Liver Patients Care Association celebrates World Hepatitis Day

World Hepatitis Day

On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, celebrated annually on July 28th, the Dakahlia Liver Patients Care Association , in collaboration with the Egyptian Liver Hospital in Sherbin, organized an awareness campaign for visitors to raise awareness about the dangers of hepatitis and preventive measures.

Professor Jamal Shiha, Chairman of the Egyptian Liver Foundation, stated that World Hepatitis Day provides an opportunity to strengthen international efforts to combat hepatitis and liver viruses, encourage the participation of individuals, partners, and the public, and highlight the need to maximize the global response.

Observed on July 28th, World Hepatitis Day commemorates the birth of Nobel laureate Dr. Baruch Blumberg, who is credited with discovering the hepatitis B virus and developing a diagnostic test and vaccine. It serves as a platform to bolster national and international efforts to combat hepatitis, foster engagement from individuals, partners, and the public, increase public awareness and understanding of hepatitis and its associated diseases, and promote and support prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Moreover, it underscores the importance of maximizing the global response as outlined in the World Health Organization's global report.
